Virginia Beach top 500 qualified remodeler

Solid Structures Named Qualified Remodeler 2025 Top 500

Solid Structures, a leading outdoor living design-build firm serving Coastal Virginia, has been named to the Qualified Remodeler 2025 Top 500, earning a national ranking of Number 309.

The Qualified Remodeler Top 500 is one of the most respected rankings in the residential remodeling and construction industry. Each year, companies from across the United States are evaluated and ranked based on verified financial data, operational performance, longevity, and professional practices.

“This recognition is meaningful because it’s rooted in facts, not marketing,” said Bobby Earley, Director of Sales/Marketing for Solid Structures. “In an industry where trust can be difficult to verify, being ranked nationally by Qualified Remodeler reinforces our commitment to accountability, professionalism, and doing things the right way.”

What the Ranking Represents

Unlike many industry awards, the Qualified Remodeler Top 500 is not a nomination-based or popularity-driven list. Companies must submit detailed operational and financial information, which is reviewed and validated before rankings are determined.

For homeowners, this ranking serves as a third-party confirmation that Solid Structures is:

  • An established, stable company
  • Operating at a professional, national level
  • Committed to consistent quality and ethical business practices

Building Trust in a Challenging Industry

With many homeowners expressing concern about unreliable or underqualified contractors, independent recognition has become increasingly important. Solid Structures’ inclusion in the Top 500 provides clients with added confidence that they are working with a company that is respected not only by its customers, but by the industry itself.

“At the end of the day, our clients aren’t just investing in an outdoor space—they’re trusting us with their home and their time,” added Scott Prunty, owner. “This ranking reflects the systems, people, and values behind every project we build.”

Transforming a Backyard for the Boot Salute Winner: Solid Structures Brings the Coble Family’s Dream to Life

Solid Structures was proud to be the contractor for the recent Mike’s Hard Lemonade Boot Salute Backyard Reveal. The project was more than just a backyard transformation—it was a chance for us to give back to a family who has given so much to the community. The Cobles, particularly Derek, Nina, and their children, were the focus of this incredible makeover that was designed to be beautiful, functional, and easy to maintain.

A Community-Driven Project in Hampton Roads

At Solid Structures, we believe in supporting our Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads communities. Partnering with local sponsors like Mosquito Joe, Yorktown Materials, Belgard Hardscapes, and Decks and Docks, we turned the Coble family’s backyard into a haven that fit their unique needs.

The project took about two months to plan and prepare, with one week of intense construction involving five crews working non-stop. Our goal was to create a safe and enjoyable outdoor space that would be easy for the Cobles to maintain, especially given Derek’s physical limitations.

The Big Reveal: A Heartwarming Surprise

The reveal day was filled with emotion and joy. Seeing Nina in tears of happiness and the kids sprinting to explore their new outdoor playground was incredibly rewarding. The design was kept a secret from the family until the final reveal, making the moment even more special.

One of the standout features is a dirt bike track—a dream come true for the kids. Additionally, the backyard includes plenty of mulch to minimize maintenance and create a safe space for the kids to play. The thoughtful design was inspired by Derek’s wish for a space that would bring joy to his family, especially for Nina and the children.

Key Highlights of the Backyard Transformation

  • Greenhouse: One of the most exciting additions was a custom greenhouse, perfect for Nina’s passion for gardening. She’s already planning what to plant, making the space both functional and fulfilling.
  • Pavilion and Fencing: The pavilion and fencing provided by Decks and Docks added both privacy and aesthetic appeal, creating a safe and secure area for the family.
  • Low Maintenance Design: To accommodate Derek’s needs, the yard was designed with ease of upkeep in mind. By incorporating mulch and hardscaping, we reduced the amount of grass and maintenance required, making it perfect for a busy family.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners

Projects like these wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing partners:

  • Yorktown Materials and Belgard Hardscapes supplied high-quality hardscape materials.
  • Home Depot contributed essential accessories.
  • Decks and Docks came through with lumber for the fencing and pavilion.

We’re grateful for everyone who contributed to making this project a success.

Solid Structures Company Offshore Fishing Trip!

The president of Solid Structures Scott Prunty treated the entire staff and crew to one fantastic offshore fishing trip on board the Rudee Angler out of the Virginia Beach Fishing Center. Moral was high as everyone boarded and ate up around twenty boxes of pizza along with their favorite boating beverage.

The offshore bite was pretty good and included black sea bass as well as ribbon fish, both delicious dining fare.

What a great place to work. You get to go fishing and eat pizza! Everyone had a wonderful time and look forward to Solid Structures next employee outing.

Thank you to Solid Structures!

Surf’s up at the ECSC 2022 Pool’s open!

Surf’s up at the ECSC 2022 and the pool is open!

Solid Structures was proud to sponsor and be a part of the 60th annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) 2022 in Virginia Beach Virginia! ECSC is the longest running surfing championship in the world. Over 150,000 people were expected for the competition. What an event complete with many national acts on the bandstand including Offspring and Ava Max, volleyball, cornhole competitions, and all the competitive surfing action one could ever want.

To celebrate this event Solid Structures once again had an incredible vendor booth that was actually… an inground fiberglass swimming pool. Or maybe we should say “In Sand” fiberglass swimming pool. Not just a pool, but a brand new 13×30 Freedom Fiberglass Swimming pool by Imagine Pools. This new pool highlighted a brand new color, Sea Side Sky with a midnight border by Belgard-Mid Atlantic Dimension Pavers.

This in sand pool project was completed by Solid Structures expert crew in only two to three days then was open to the general public during the event. This new 30ft Freedom by Imagine Pools drew a lot of attention from the public and plenty of patrons enjoyed a nice swim on the beach. We even had the ladies from the bikini contest stop by to strike a pose.

Once the four day event was over Solid Structures crew did a complete haul out of the pool, put back all the sand, and left the beach clean as a whistle.

History of ECSC from Wikipedia:

The East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) is an annual surfing contest held in Virginia Beach, Virginia on the oceanfront, and is one of the United States Surfing Federation’s major amateur events. The ECSC stretches over a four-day period every year in late August at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The original inspiration for the East Coast Surfing Championships came from Long Island, New York in the summer of 1962 when a group of teens held a beach and surf party. Since its official establishment in Virginia Beach in 1963, the ECSC has grown to be the now-longest running surfing contest in the world with the 58th annual surf competition held August 23-30, 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic with safety guidelines in place.

The ECSC is a place not only for professional surfers, but for amateur surfers as well, to ride and contend for cash prizes totaling close to $40,000 and championship titles. Men’s and women’s surfing events are held throughout the week, plus other beach sporting events such as volleyball, skateboarding, skimboarding, a 5k Oceanfront run, and a swimsuit competition. A new event called the Beach Bum Classic was introduced in 2007. The Beach Bum Classic, organized and sponsored by Wareing’s Gym in Virginia Beach, is a triathlon-type event including a one-mile sand run, a three-mile bike race on beach cruisers, and a half-mile surfboard paddling race.

A reported spectator count of over 100,000 people show up to watch the events during the day, and at night, the Virginia Beach boardwalk fills with people for free concerts on the beach. Bands and musicians include national, regional, and local talents. This year will feature a special event featuring Matthew Higgins, Long Island Surf Pro Champion who is known for his Surf Board maneuvering prowess.

The ECSC is planned, organized, and employed by the Virginia Beach Jaycees, a chapter of a nationwide volunteer organization, the United States Jaycees. Media press and coverage includes ESPN, The Washington Post, and USA Today.
